Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek
Trek to Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 m via Chhomrong, with a 10-day Kathmandu-return plan and staged upper-valley ascent.

The Annapurna Base Camp trek follows the Modi Khola through villages and forest into the Annapurna Sanctuary. This 10-day plan uses the Jhinu approach and visits ABC from Machhapuchhre Base Camp, returning there to sleep.
Suggested Kathmandu-return plan:
Day 1 — Kathmandu to Pokhara.
Day 2 — Drive to the usable Jhinu roadhead; walk to Chhomrong.
Day 3 — Chhomrong to Bamboo.
Day 4 — Bamboo to Himalaya.
Day 5 — Himalaya to Deurali.
Day 6 — Deurali to Machhapuchhre Base Camp.
Day 7 — Visit ABC, about 4,130 m; return to Machhapuchhre Base Camp.
Day 8 — Descend to Bamboo.
Day 9 — Walk to Jhinu; drive to Pokhara.
Day 10 — Pokhara to Kathmandu.
Moderate to demanding, with sustained stairs and altitude. March–May and October–November are usual trekking seasons. Add 1–2 spare days. Check current road access, lodge space and avalanche or snow conditions before entering the upper valley.
Keep the acclimatization stops. Do not climb higher with altitude-sickness symptoms; worsening symptoms require descent and medical help. Confirm permits and guide requirements for your nationality.
Annapurna I became the first mountain above 8,000 m to be climbed in 1950. That ascent used the northern side; this trek approaches the southern sanctuary.
