Dhulikhel–Namo Buddha Day Hike
Walk from Dhulikhel to Namo Buddha through Kavre villages and farmland, with 3–5 hours on foot and a road return.

The Dhulikhel–Namo Buddha hike crosses farmland and villages before reaching the Buddhist pilgrimage area, around 1,750 m. Allow 3–5 hours one way, plus time at the stupa and monastery. Expect steps and a final climb.
Leave Kathmandu early: allow 1½–2½ hours to Dhulikhel and 2–3 hours for the road return from Namo Buddha. Arrange pickup before walking, carry water and respect prayer times and photography restrictions. Monastery interiors and special programmes may have their own access rules.
Buddhist tradition links Namo Buddha to the story of the Buddha in a former life offering his body to a starving tigress and her cubs.
