The International Mountain Museum in Pokhara is Nepal’s major museum dedicated to the Himalaya, mountaineering and the people who live in mountain regions. Exhibits introduce the world’s highest peaks, landmark expeditions, climbing equipment, geology, mountain environments and the cultures of Himalayan communities. Located in Ratopairo south of Pokhara Airport, the spacious indoor museum is an excellent family-friendly activity and a useful stop on rainy or cloudy days when mountain views are limited. Allow two to three hours to explore the galleries and grounds. The museum’s official visitor information lists daily opening from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, but check for holiday changes.
