About this spot

Kathesimbhu sits in a Buddhist courtyard between Thamel and Kathmandu’s old-city lanes. Walk clockwise around the main stupa and look at the smaller shrines without disturbing worshippers. Allow 20–40 minutes, or include it on a walk toward Itum Bahal and Ason. Monastery interiors may have separate visiting rules.

The main stupa is a smaller counterpart of Swayambhu, built for people unable to make the hilltop visit.
