Lumbini Sacred Garden and Maya Devi Temple mark the UNESCO World Heritage birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, in Rupandehi, Nepal. The archaeological site includes the Maya Devi Temple, the ancient marker stone, the Sacred Pond and Emperor Ashoka’s pillar from 249 BCE. Beyond the garden, Lumbini’s wider monastic zone brings together Buddhist monasteries and traditions from around the world.
