About this spot

Shivapuri Peak is a strenuous day hike in protected forest north of Kathmandu. Start at Panimuhan, climb via Nagi Gumba and Baghdwar to about 2,732 m, then return on the authorised route. Allow 6–8 hours walking plus stops; summit views depend on cloud and trees.

Allow 45–90 minutes each way for transport via Budhanilkantha, plus gate registration. Arrange a guide and entry permit, carry lunch, water and rainwear, and confirm the latest exit time. Nagi Gumba or Baghdwar can be a shorter turnaround if the summit would risk a late descent. No walking is permitted after sunset.
